Live second day at WRC III in Luzern, with “out-of-the-water” around venue and Heats/Semifinal+Finals.
July 10
Long day starting at 9am, with heats and repechages, with last race of the day, no. 84, just after 6pm.
In the early morning the super duo of NZL1 Eric Murray and Hamish Bond go to the semifinal with a time that is far away from their world record. NED1 of Roel Braas and Mitchel Steenman finishes very close to NZL1 time.
In M4-, ITA1 (Marco Di Costanzo, Matteo Castaldo, Matteo Lodo, Giuseppe Vicino) lead the group of qualified with the best time.
In LW2x, GBR (Charlotte Taylor, Katherine Copeland), NZL (Sophie Mackenzie, Julia Edward) and GER (Fini Sturm, Marie-Louise Draeger), same boats that were on the podium in WRC II in Varese, go directly to semifinal; however, RSA, who was not in Varese, wins one of the heat and should be looked at very carefully by the others for the final ranks.
In M2x the two teams that appear to be on the top are NZL (Robert Manson, Chris Harris) and ITA (Romano Battisti, Francesco Fossi), winning their respective heats.
NZL is well placed in men’s single scull with 2012 Olympic Gold Medal Mahe Drysdale going to semifinal and Zoe McBride going directly to final in lightweight women single scull, with the others in final to be known tomorrow morning after the repechage.
Remarkable result for W8+ of NZL who wins their heat, CAN winning the other, with GBR that was third in Varese that moves to the repechage. In this race, it must be noted that USA’s team that won Varese WRC is non present.
The great rivalry between GER and GBR does not stop and goes on even here: we expect to see a great final again on sunday!
